Readers, I did not fail the October Horror Movie Challenge this year. In fact, I KILLED IT. Heh.
So I predicted failure for the OHMC this year on my last post, but somehow with everything that happened in my “normal” life (including a cancer scare that aged me at least 10 years – don’t worry, everything is benign), I clocked a total of 44 feature length films and 3 shorts (which don’t actually count but I made note of them anyhow): 25 repeat films and 19 first time views (FTVs). To be honest, I relied heavily on family-friendly/comedy horror to get through, but a lot of those were repeat views (The ‘Burbs, amirite?). Since we’re already biting into Noirvember time, and I’m still working on a longer piece about two of the films I watched for the Challenge, I at least wanted to list out the FTVs (and one short) in categories based on how much I enjoyed them. Please find this listing IMMEDIATELY BELOW:

And there you have it! All the movies I watched for the first time in October. I’m happy to elaborate more in the comments; next up, a dive into Lucky McKee’s The Woman (2011) and Fresh (dir. Mimi Cave, 2022) with a touch of…toxic masculinity? Oh goodie. Let me know what you watched this year, if anything!
